Some people ask why I call myself a Creative Professional… What in the world is a Creative Professional anyways? Good old Wikipedia defines the position as: “a person who is employed for the extraction of skills in creative endeavors.” Basically, if you are creative in more than one media format or discipline professionally, you are a creative professional.
Working in illustration during the early 90’s allowed me to work in many disciplines… I manually built catalogues and illustrated the cover graphics with airbrushed artwork when, thankfully, computers took over the industry. No more wax rollers, letraline, dry-transfer letter sheets and cleaning pens with dried india-ink in them. Hello to floppy disks, then zip disks, then CDs, then DVDs, now the cloud. Oh what a journey.
Photography came to me as a necessity. Working as a freelancer, there were many times a client would ask me to build a marketing piece and only provide a business card and a fuzzy snapshot of their product or service. Again the evolution of photography has been a glorious, hair-pulling adventure of film, 2.1 megapixel graininess and the beautiful machines we have access to now.
Okay, what’s my point, right?
I call myself a Creative Professional, because putting Graphic artist, Illustrator, Photographer, Soldier, Father of three and Coffee Connoisseur, may be too much for a business card…
I would now like to introduce my first passion in the art field, illustration… Again, this discipline has had many developments, but the common thread through all the worn out pencils, empty tubes of acrylic paint and WACOM pen nibs, has been the creative drive behind all the images.
Enjoy…
